A woman has pleaded not guilty to the hit-and-run collision that killed an 18-year-old student and injured another near the University of Southern California.
Claudia Cabrera entered the pleas Monday to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run driving.
The district attorney's office says Cabrera was driving a car March 29 that struck and killed 18-year-old Adrianna Bachan as she was on a crosswalk by the university. Fellow student Marcus Garfinkle, of Scottsdale, Ariz., suffered two broken legs and other injuries.
Witnesses had said the car stopped only so a passenger could get out and pull Garfinkle off the hood. He remained hospitalized with two broken legs and other injuries.
Police are seeking Cabrera's husband Josue Luna as a person of interest in the case.
The 30-year-old Cabrera is due back in court May 4, when a hearing will be scheduled to determine if enough evidence exists to require a trial.
