Man Convicted In Deaths Of 2 Gas Station Employees

COMPTON (AP) ― A 24-year-old man has been convicted of killing two Mobil Mart gas station employees during a failed Carson beer heist.

Esther Arteaga, a 32-year-old Wilmington mother, and 74-year-old Eduardo Roco were shot to death on Nov. 4, 2006, behind the counter at the gas station. Arteaga was being trained for the overnight shift by Roco, who was retiring.

A Compton jury on Monday convicted Adam Loza on two counts of murder with special circumstances enhancements and two counts of
attempted robbery.

He will be sentenced July 24 to mandatory life in prison without possibility of parole.
