Actor John Cusack Tells Court He Has Stalker
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
Actor John Cusack is asking for a stay-away order against a woman he alleges is stalking him.
The court papers, filed Friday in Santa Monica Superior Court, identify the woman as 31-year-old transient Emily Leatherman. She is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.
"This person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside (and) making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me...," Cusack stated in his court papers.
The woman "threatens to commit acts of violence against herself" Cusack added. The actor further stated in the papers that he has never met the woman, but her mail has been arriving at his home and she has told people she lives with him.
Cusack's court documents ask that Leatherman be directed to stay at least 500 feet from him, his home, his workplace, his car and all companies or offices in which he does business.
The woman has a history of arrests for assault with a deadly weapon, according to Cusack's court papers.
Cusack, who turns 40 on Wednesday, has appeared in such films as "Sixteen Candles" in 1984, "Broadcast News" in 1987, "The Grifters" in 1990, "True Colors" in 1991, "City Hall" in 1996, "Con Air" and "Grosse Pointe Blank," both in 1997 and "Must Love Dogs" and "The Ice Harvest" both in 2005.
He is the brother of actress Joan Cusack and has dated actresses Minnie Driver, Neve Campbell and Claire Forlani.
