Slain Customs Worker's Family Sues Bank of America

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The family of a U.S. Customs employee who was killed during a holdup at a Los Angeles ATM has sued the Bank of America for negligence.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Superior Court, said there had been at least three holdups at the same ATM since last August.

Mylus Mondy, 47, was shot in the back and killed on March 9 as he ran from attackers who tried to rob him at a Bank of America in Ladera Heights.

Attorney John Sweeney said the bank had a duty to notify the public of the robberies or take measures to protect customers.

The suit also names a man and a woman who were arrested in connection with Mondy's killing. It accuses them of assault and battery.
