911 tapes reveal callers pleading for help for a woman who lay bleeding on the emergency room floor of an inner-city LA hospital, but they are referred to hospital staff instead.
In audio from the calls posted on the LA Times' Web site, Edith Rodriguez's boyfriend can be heard saying Rodriguez is vomiting blood and nurses at Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor hospital are refusing to help her. The dispatcher told the man to contact a doctor and then said paramedics wouldn't pick Rodriguez up because she was already in a hospital.
A bystander also calls and is told it isn't an emergency.
Rodriguez died of a perforated bowel. Her death was ruled accidental by the LA County coroner's office.
