3 Dead In Wrong-Way Crash On I-5 In Commerce

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The three people killed in a wrong-way freeway crash today on Interstate 5 in City of Commerce have been identified.

A wrong-way driver slammed into a car full of people, killing two women and himself. Two other people were critically injured.

The southbound lanes were closed from 3:10 a.m. to 6:40 a.m., snarling the morning commute.

Authorities say 27-year-old Steven Quintero of Gardena was in a Toyota heading north in the southbound lanes when it collided with a Nissan carrying four people.

The crash killed the Nissan's driver and a woman passenger.

CHP and coroner's officials have identified them as 20-year-old Arielle Estremo and 17-year-old Chauncy Reid, both of Anaheim.

The crash also injured two Garden Grove men, ages 18 and 19, who were passengers in the Nissan.
