A 29-year-old woman was killed Saturday after she tried to walk across several lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway near the Sepulveda Pass in Los Angeles.
The accident on the northbound San Diego Freeway, just south of Skirball Center Drive, occurred about 12:40 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said.
The victim was a driver, who was involved in a previous injury collision on the right shoulder of the freeway, according to CHP Officer K. Maniord.
She tried to cross the traffic lanes on foot and was hit by a car traveling north, he said. She was declared dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
The driver of the car which hit her was determined not to be under the influence of alcohol, Maniord said.
The accident left all lanes blocked for more than two hours, authorities said. The No. 1, 2, and 3 northbound lanes were re-opened just after 3:05 a.m.
