2 killed, 3 Injured, In 405 Freeway Offramp Crash

LONG BEACH, Calif. Two motorists were killed Wednesday in a solo-vehicle crash on a San Diego (405) Freeway offramp in Long Beach, authorities said.

The accident on the northbound North Lakewood Boulevard offramp from the southbound San Diego Freeway occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin said.

Five people were trapped inside the wreckage following the crash, according to reports received by the CHP. 

Two motorists -- a man in his mid 20s and a man about 30 years old --suffered fatal injuries in the accident, CHP Officer David Porter said. Three other victims were taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center but their conditions were not immediately reported, he added.

Details of the accident were not immediately released.

Both northbound and southbound North Lakewood offramps were shut down for nearly four hours during the crash investigation and accident cleanup, Martin said.
