1 Dead, 4 Hurt In Riverside Home Invasion
RIVERSIDE
One suspect is dead, and another reportedly on the loose Friday in an apparent home invasion in Riverside that also left four people in the house wounded, according to authorities.
Two of the wounded in the house suffered gunshot wounds, but police said the wounds were not life-threatening.
The home invasion occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Celeste Drive, near Highlander Drive, less than a block from UC Riverside, according to police.
"There were two intruders," said Riverside police spokesman Steve Frasher. "One was dead when officers arrived at the scene from a gunshot
wound. We don't know how it occurred."
He said the fatally wounded man was of Asian origin, as are all the
apparent victims and the second suspect.
According to Frasher, investigators are still trying to sort out details of what transpired in the house, but the preliminary indication is robbery.
He said there were four young men inside the home when the two suspects apparently rushed in and gunfire broke out.
The most seriously injured is a man who appeared to have been pistol-whipped about the head, according to Frasher.
The victims were transported to different hospitals, he said.
The second suspect fled in a two-door silver or gray sedan, possibly a Honda, Frasher said.
"This is still a very active investigation," Frasher said.
Police cordoned off multiple intersections in the area and were stopping
vehicles.
