Authorities investigating reports of gunshots and the death of a motorcyclist have closed a connector road linking the Foothill and Glendale freeways.
Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz says officers were called to the scene about 3 a.m. Monday after someone reported hearing gunfire. The motorcyclist, Manuel Martin, 30, of Venice, was found in the bushes along the road was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police initially believed the victim was fatally shot, but Lorenz said investigators are now trying to determine whether he was struck by bullets or thrown from his bike after hearing gunfire.
The California Highway Patrol say the connector road will be closed until at least until 8 a.m. while detectives investigate.
Lorenz says he has no information on possible suspects.
