Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left a man and a woman dead in a home in El Monte Monday night.

The shootings were reported around 11:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Vane Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which was assisting El Monte police in the investigation.

Sheriff's homicide detectives said the deaths appeared to be a murder-suicide, according to sheriff's Deputy Mark Pope.
