2 Arrests Made After Car Chase In Canyon Country
SANTA CLARITA
A two-minute car chase in Canyon Country ended with two parolee gang suspects being arrested today.
Driver George Placeres, 27, was booked on a parole violation, misdemeanor evading and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, according to sheriff's Sgt. Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita station. His parole stemmed from an auto theft conviction, he said.
Judd Vear, 22, who was on parole for drug possession, also was booked for taking a vehicle without the owner's permission, Harris said.
Deputies stopped the vehicle near Soledad Canyon Road and Crossglade Avenue about 4 a.m. and, as they approached the vehicle, one of the deputies saw a passenger trying to hide a pistol, he said.
The deputy yelled to alert his partner, and the car sped away, Harris said.
The chase ended near Foxlane Drive and Basel Street, where the suspects ran from the vehicle, Harris said. Placeres was caught nearby, and Vear was found hiding on the roof of a home.
The vehicle, which had no license plates on it, was reported stolen in the San Fernando Valley, he said. The gun was not found, Harris said.
