Crews Battle Blaze Near Interstate 15 In Murrieta

A brush fire burning near the southbound side of Interstate 15 was being fueled by high winds Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One lane of the freeway was closed while firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which was burning in an open field just south of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and north of Winchester Avenue.
The fire as reported at 12:28 p.m., the CHP reported.
Five Murrieta Fire Department engines raced to the scene and another four engines were requested from Cal Fire, Murrieta fire information officer Stephanie Smith said.
