Two vehicles collided, causing one to overturn on the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway, and requiring eight people to be hospitalized, according to a fire department spokesman.
The crash occurred about 10:40 p.m. Saturday near Hollywood Boulevard, said Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey.
One person suffered critical injuries, seven others -- including two children -- sustained minor injuries, he said.
The eight victims were transported to Cedars-Sinai, Hollywood Presbyterian and County-USC medical centers, Humphrey said.
More than 30 LAFD personnel responded to the collision, he said.
All southbound lanes were closed for more than an hour, then reopened shortly after midnight, California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter said.
