Police Search For Man Who Assaulted Exotic Dancer

GARDENA, Calif. Police are seeking the public's help to find a suspect who posed as an entertainment industry insider and sexually assaulted an exotic dancer, authorities said.

The 22-year-old victim told police she accepted a ride from the suspect early on March 12, Gardena police said. Instead of driving her home, the suspect took her to a residence in north Gardena and raped her, police said. He also beat the woman about the head, neck and upper body.

The suspect then drove the victim to the area near her residence and dropped her off, police said.

The suspect was last seen driving a newer black sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Equinox. He was described as a black man in his 30s, 6 feet 2, 180 to 200 pounds, with an athletic build, a dark complexion and very white teeth, police said.

The victim worked at a dance club in the area of 135th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, said Gardena police Det. Pamela Robinson.

"The suspect said he was producing a hip-hop comedy routine," Robinson
said. "He also said he was working with reggae musicians."

Evidence so far suggests the abduction and assault were premeditated and that the suspect may have duped and attacked other women before, police said. Robinson encouraged anyone with information to call Gardena police at (310) 217-9653 or (310) 217-9670. Refer to case number 08-1577.
