Christmas Eve Expected To Be Blustery

Strong tail winds out of the north should help Santa and his sleigh make good time through the Los Angeles area on Christmas Eve.

In the mountains and inland areas, winds out of the north and northeast are forecast to be blowing at 25 to 35 mph below passes and canyons Monday night, with gusts up to 60 mph or more possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory, signifying sustained winds 39 mph or more, effective from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

In the coastal mountains, the winds will be lighter, about 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to about 35 mph.

But according to the forecasters, the winds could be damaging in the local valleys and inland areas, including the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain ranges.

Forecasters expect the winds will start to let up by Tuesday evening.
