Women Regret One-Night Stands More Than Men

Study Finds For Women, Quality Is More Important Than Quantity

MIAMI (CBS) ― Women still regret one night stands far more than men, according to a recent study, which explains that women have negative feelings after a fling and remain unhappy with fleeting sexual encounters.

Researchers said the permissive society sparked during the '60s was supposed to free women to enjoy casual sex just like men but it had failed, according to a report by CBS station WFOR-TV.

Most women will only embark on a one night stand if they think it will lead to a full blown relationship and feel used and ashamed when it goes no further.

The findings were part of a project at Durham University in England led by Professor Anne Campbell and published in the June issue of the journal, Human Nature.

According to the survey, 80 percent of men had overall positive feelings about the experience compared to 54 percent of women.

Men reported feeling greater sexual satisfaction and contentment afterwards, as well as a greater sense of well-being and confidence about themselves. They were also more likely than women to want their friends to hear about it.

Women on the other hand were more likely to feel used and as if they had let themselves down.

They were worried about the potential damage to their reputation if their friends found out and found the experience less sexually satisfying.
