Metromint Waters Voluntarily Recalled

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ―

Soma Beverage has issued a voluntary recall of its Metromint flavored water in 16.9 ounce bottles because they be contaminated with Bacillus cereus which may cause diarrheal type food poisoning.

The San Francisco-based company says all flavors of Metromint water are affected by the recall, including peppermint, spearmint, orangemint and lemonmint.

The recalled waters were produced at the company's California facility and bear "Best Before" dates of Dec. 21, 2008 or earlier. The product was sold to grocers nationwide and over the Internet.

Soma Beverage says there have been no reported illnesses.

The state Department of Public Health is warning consumers not to drink Metromint waters because of the contamination risk.
