The Doctors: Meet Dr. James Sears

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― The Doctor: James Sears

Speciality: Pediatrician

The Doctor Is In: The family way. He practices with his dad, William, and his younger brother, Robert.

We're Impressed: Look out Dr. Spock. Doctor Sears is the author of many best-selling and acclaimed books including "The Healthiest Kid in the Neighborhood," "Father's First Steps -- 25 Things Every New Father Should Know" and "The Baby Book."

Studied Where: Dr. Sears got his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Northeastern Ohio Univerity College of Medicine and Tod Children's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. During his residency he received the honor of Emergency Resident Of The Year.

You've Seen Him Before: "Dr. Phil" and the PBS show "Help Me Grow." Dr. Sears also doles out medical advice on the web sites www.parenting.com and www.askdrsears.com.

Marital Status: Married. He and the Mrs. have two children.

Hobbies: Endurance cycling, mountain biking, triathlons (no, he's not crazy), skiing, hiking and sailing.

Little Known Fact: When he isn't in the office, Dr. Sears often attends his patients' graduations and birthday parties. Plus, he is also into musical theater and loves getting up on stage and belting out a tune or two.

Bottom Line: A pediatrician who gives out high fives? What kid needs to be scared of going to this amiable, avuncular, singing doc?
