City Worker Arrested For Stealing Municipal Fuel

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Authorities say a city of Los Angeles employee has been arrested on suspicion of stealing 50,000 gallons of fuel from city maintenance facilities.

The Los Angeles Police Department said Thursday that 44-year-old Raymond Mark was booked for grand theft after stealing the gas then reselling it to customers, including 28-year-old Gevork Sukunyan, who was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property.

Mark works for the city's Bureau of Street Maintenance.

Detectives will be seeking additional counts against him for commercial burglary, theft, criminal profiteering and Department of Motor Vehicle fraud.

Police say the gas was worth about $250,000.

It was not known if the men had attorneys.
