It's Not Your Imagination: Gas Prices Are Soaring

Are gas prices headed skyward...again?

You're not imagining it. You are spending more for gas. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Tuesday for the 44th consecutive day, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.015.
The average price is 10.3 cents more than a week ago and 52.2 cents more than a month ago. Small comfort: that $3.015 is $1.602 lower than this time last year and $1.611 below the record high of $4.626 set last June 21.
The average price is at its highest point since Oct. 30, when it was $3.019, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price surpassed the $3 per gallon mark for the first time since Oct. 29, rising 1 cent to $3.009.
The Orange County average price has risen 42 of the past 43 days and is 9.7 cents more than a week ago and. Is the price inching towards the record high of $4.598 set last June 19?
Likewise in Los Angeles County, the Orange County average is the highest it has been since Oct. 29, when it was $3.017.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire today surpassed the $3 mark for the first time since last October, rising 1.1 cents to $3.003.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen 47 consecutive days.
Gas also costs 9.9 cents more than a week ago and 51.2 cents more than a month ago, but $1.60 less than at this time last year and $1.611 below the record high of $4.614 set last June 22.
The cost is at its highest since Oct. 29, when gas was $3.011, according to figures provided by the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
