Is This Mad Money? Gas Falls 3/10 Cent In 1 Week

And It Didn't Fall Everywhere: Sorry Inland Empire!

LOS ANGELES That trip to Europe? The large screen TV? The room addition!!? They are all closer in sight this week as gas prices continue to fall in Los Angeles.

Fall being relative, of course. The average price of a gallon "fell" 3/10ths of one cent. So, those savings plans shouldn't be put on hold just yet.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County continued a modest decline this week, according to figures released Saturday by the Oil Price Information Service.

The average of $4.589 is three-tenths of a cent lower than Friday and has fallen 3.7 cents since hitting a record high of $4.626 June 21.

However, the average is 25 cents higher than last month and $1.475 higher than at this time last year.

The Orange County average was $4.548, seven-tenths of a cent lower than Friday and 5 cents lower than the record high of $4.598 set June 19, but 23.3 cents higher than last month and $1.489 higher than at this time last year.

The good news didn't reach the Inland Empire. Gas prices there went up slightly on average for the week.

The average price in the I.E. rose slight. The average of $4.562 in Riverside and San Bernadino counties went up 4/10ths of a cent in a week.

That figure still represents a 5.2 cent drop from the record high of June 22.
The average is 21.7 cents higher than last month and nearly $1.50 higher than the same time last year.

In related gas news, the Automobile Association of Southern California did not publish its survey this holiday weekend.
