L.A. County Employee Accused Of Fleecing Fuel

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Prosecutors have charged a longtime Los Angeles County employee with the stealing more than $5,000 worth gasoline from county maintenance yards.

Ralph Soto has worked for the Department of Public Works for 18 years. He is charged with felony grand theft by embezzlement. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison.

Prosecutors say the 43-year-old Soto illegally used a co-worker's account number to fill his minivan and gasoline cans with more than $5,000 worth of gas between July 2 and Sept. 3. He then allegedly sold the gasoline.
