The Center for Science in the Public Interest says 85 of 102 meals examined at 17 chains had more than the government's guidelines for a day's worth of salt.
Some had more than four days worth of sodium in one meal.
Chili's, Denny's, Red Lobster and Olive Garden are a handful of chains the activist group is targeting.
