Reservoir Would Have Saved Homes In Yorba Linda

$9M Project Was Paid For Before Triangle Complex Fire

YORBA LINDA (AP) ― Residents in Yorba Linda had already paid for a $9 million reservoir that would have served wildfire-ravaged Hidden Hills Estates where hydrants went dry during the peak of this month's firestorm.

Nineteen ridgetop Hidden Hills homes were destroyed in the Nov. 15 inferno, and firefighters and homeowners have been demanding answers on the lack of water pressure.

The Yorba Linda Water District, which has already set aside money for the two million gallon reservoir, says construction has been stalled for years by developers, environmentalists and competing water district projects.

The 100-home Hidden Hills Estates is currently served by the Santiago reservoir, where three electric pumps failed and a gas-powered backup pump was damaged by heat.
