Firefighters Contain 55-Acre Brusher In Lancaster

LANCASTER A fire burned 55 acres of brush Saturday near the California Aqueduct in Lancaster before being fully contained, a county fire official said.

The "D Fire" was reported at 4:10 p.m. in medium brush near Avenue D, Highway 138 and 190th Street, Capt. Frank Reynoso of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

"This is a fire that was initially reported as 75 by 75 yards," Reynoso said.

About 100 firefighters completely contained the fire just after 6 p.m., Bryan Webb of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

No structures were threatened, and no injuries were immediately reported.
