An Amtrak bus has been destroyed by fire on Interstate 5 in northwestern Los Angeles County and flames have spread to brush in the rural area.
Amtrak spokeswoman Karina Romero says all nine passengers and the driver got off the bus before it was engulfed Friday afternoon.
Romero says all luggage was removed as well, and the passengers are continuing their trip on another bus. The bus was traveling from Torrance in suburban Los Angeles to Bakersfield in the San Joaquin Valley.
Los Angeles County firefighters were already battling a nearby 45-acre wildfire in the Castaic area when the bus caught fire. Northbound traffic on the major interstate was temporarily stopped.
The fire scorched about 10 acres and was about 70 acres percent contained by 7:30 p.m.
