Firefighters Mopping Up Agoura Hills Brush Fire

 SLIDESHOW: Agoura Hills Brush Fire

 FIRE WATCH: Complete Fire Coverage

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Firefighters are making good progress against a brush fire in the hills of Agoura.

Fire officials say the blaze is now 80 percent contained.

It has burned at least 75 acres of state park land near a subdivision,
prompting some residents to evacuate.

The fire also forced the closure of all but one lane of the 101 Freeway.

L-A Fire Inspector Ron Haralson says the flames burned within 50 feet of homes but about 250 firefighters and six water-dropping helicopters managed to keep the fire at bay.

Haralson says firefighters will be on the scene throughout the evening, mopping up and making sure that none of the embers blow into areas that haven't burned yet.
