Celebrity Suicides

Celebrity death and murder is shocking enough. But nothing perhaps grips the public more than the tragedy that is celebrity suicide. Why do people who seemingly have everything decide that life is not worth living? What drives them to it? And could anything have been done to prevent it? Sadly, the only people who can usually answer those questions take the answers with them to the grave.

Brooklyn-born Richard John Colangelo became popular as stand-up Richard Jeni. In 2004, Comedy Central, in fact, ranked him #57 in the 100 Best Stand-Ups Of All-Time. Three years later, battling depression, Jeni shot himself in his West Hollywood apartment. Jeni was just one month shy of his 50th birthday. Imdb.com quotes one of the comic's best lines: "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son of a bitch."
