No Charges Filed Against TV Dancer Alex Da Silva

Alex DaSilva was arrested on suspicion of rape.
TV choreographer Alex Da Silva is expected to be released from jail Tuesday after Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to file criminal charges in connection with allegations he sexually assaulted four of his students.
Prosecutors want police to investigate further before charges are considered, District Attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison said. She says more victims have come forward and need to be interviewed.
As a result, 41-year-old Da Silva, who was being held on $3.8 million bail after his arrest Saturday, is expected to be released from jail sometime Tuesday.
According to police, Da Silva lured the victims -- who were all female dance students -- to his homes in North Hollywood and Van Nuys and sexually assaulted them. The alleged assaults occurred between May 2003 and March 28.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Da Silva won the World Salsa Dancing Championships in 2002 and 2007 and, before his arrest, was teaching at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and the Mayan Club downtown.
