Networks, Stars Join Forces To Stand Up To Cancer

The networks are combining for a one-hour star-studded event to help raise money to fight cancer.

This is where the end of cancer begins... With that intonation, the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) movement was started.
CBS' Evening News anchor Katie Couric, who has lost a husband and sister to cancer, as well as anchors Brian Williams, of NBC, and Charles Gibson, of ABC, will co-host the program.
In an unprecedented display, the three networks are combining to air a live, one-hour star-studded special (Sept. 5, 8 PM ET/PT) with Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Jack Black, Mariah Carey, Fergie, Mylie Cyrus, Meryl Streep, Carrie Underwood and a host of others.
These stars and many, many more will all join forces to alert the public to the growing dangers of cancer and how government cut backs in research funding (every year since 2003) means everyone, including stars and average citizens, have to do our part to stop the disease.

SU2C lays it all out in a very informative and entertaining manner.
The show will be part information, part entertainment, and small parts telethon. Organizers say whatever you want to call it, one thing is clear...no one in the United States is immune.
If you are reading this story, you know someone who has died from, or battled cancer.
Stand Up 2 Cancer hopes that this show will be the first stand, literally and figuratively, in a national fight against the scourge.
Says the video-filled, star-studded site: "If we stand together to create efficient progress in cancer research, we can make a change."
