'Incredible Hulk' Will Be Sworn In As Sheriff
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
Lou Ferrigno, the former Mr. Universe and star of the TV series "The Incredible Hulk" is set to graduate from the Sheriff's Reserve Academy and become the newest Los Angeles County Reserve Deputy Sheriff.
As a member of class 105, Ferrigno started training in September and will be sworn in as reserve sheriff on Feb. 13. He will be required to serve at least 20 hours per month.
"Lou Ferrigno was an outstanding trainee and I know that he'll be an outstanding reserve deputy sheriff," said Sheriff Lee Baca. "Reserve deputies serve without compensation, receiving only the great satisfaction of being of service to their community."
The sheriff's office announced Ferrigno would help recruit new deputy sheriffs. In addition he expressed interest in working with the Sheriff's Youth Activities League and the Special Victims Unit, which works with children that are abused.
Ferrigno also appeared in other films and TV shows, aside from the popular TV series. He won his first Mr. Universe title at age 21 and broke records when he won it again at 22.
Ferrigno wrote a book about fitness and body building as well as founded a personal training business.
