It won't be a merry Christmas for "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez.
The actress checked into a county lockup in Lynwood Sunday to serve her sentence for violating probation on DUI and hit-and-run charges, a sheriff's deputy said.
Rodriguez was booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility -- the
same jail where Paris Hilton served much of her sentence -- just after 4
p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Oscar Butao.
"She was charged with a hit-and-run and she surrendered with her lawyer
today," Butao said.
In June 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of hit-and-run driving, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license and was placed on three years probation. She served about four hours of a 60-day jail sentence in May 2006 as a result of the county's early-release program.
According to the celebrity gossip Web site TMZ.com, Rodriguez did not
commit any more crimes, but violated probation by failing to show proof of
completion of her community service and consuming alcohol three times while wearing an alcohol monitoring device.
When Rodriguez was sentenced on the probation violations in October, the judge said she must serve her entire 180-day term behind bars, TMZ reported.
Last year she won an ALMA award, which honors Hispanic artists, for her
supporting role on the ABC television drama "Lost."
In addition to her role as Ana Lucia Cortez, Rodriguez has been in several movies, including "Girlfight" in 2000, in which she played a female boxer and reportedly beat out 350 other actresses for the lead role.
