Deliberations Begin In John Ritter Death Lawsuit
GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) ―
A Glendale, California, Superior Court jury has begun deliberations in a lawsuit against two doctors in the death of actor John Ritter.
The case went to the jury Thursday morning and the panel spent 2 1/2 hours behind closed doors before breaking for lunch.
Ritter's family is seeking $67 million in damages from a radiologist and a cardiologist.
The lawsuit claims the radiologist failed to spot an enlarged aorta after giving the actor a body scan two years before his death and that the cardiologist committed malpractice after Ritter was brought to an emergency room.
Ritter was diagnosed with a heart attack but actually died from a torn aorta.
The doctors' lawyers told the jury in closing arguments that the physicians did nothing wrong.
