Woman charged with stalking actor John Cusack was found mentally competent Wednesday to stand trial.
Emily Diane Leatherman was arrested March 30 near Cusack's Malibu home, and on April 2 she was charged with one felony count of stalking Cusack and one misdemeanor count each of disobeying a restraining order and petty theft.
After reviewing the psychiatrist's report, Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Susan M. Speer ruled that Leatherman was competent to stand trial, but she said Leatherman cannot act as her own attorney.
Leatherman is due back in court Sept. 8 for a trial-readiness hearing, and trial is set for the following day.
Leatherman has been jailed since her arrest. The criminal complaint alleges that she stalked Cusack from Feb. 1, 2007 until March 30, 2008.
This wasn't Leatherman's first run in with the law. She had previously been arrested outside a home owned by Tom Cruise in Beverly Hills.
