Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher are making headlines once again, but this time it's not expected to be the brash bickering that went public last year. The two are reportedly planning a romantic rendezvous for Monday night, reports CBS station WCBS-TV in New York.
The date comes just one week after both of their spouses filed for divorce.
Many may now wonder, however, is the reconnection real? Some believe the plans could just be a ploy for television as cameras will be rolling on their candlelight dinner that will be overlooking Central Park. A television producer is said to be working on turning the relationship into a new reality show.
The two first made national headlines in 1992 after their year-long affair ended when Fisher, who was a 17-year-old high school student from Long Island, shot Buttafuoco's then-wife, Mary Jo, in the head. Buttafuoco was 36 at the time.
Mary Jo suffered broken bones, eye damage, loss of hearing in one ear, and restricted motor skills from the shooting. In December of 1992, Fisher was sentenced to seven years in prison after a judge called her "a disgrace." Buttafuoco served four months for statutory rape.
Just last year, the famous trio met for the first time together since being in the courtroom, and that encounter ended in a heated war of words between Buttafuoco and Fisher. Mary Jo showed a more sympathetic side toward Fisher after Fisher apologized for the shooting.
How Monday night's date came about is not yet known, but Buttafuoco will reportedly arrive with flowers and a gift for his former lover. Only time will tell whether or not sparks will fly or a fiery battle will explode between the two.
