Jesse James Hollywood Testifies In Murder Trial

SANTA BARBARA (AP) ― Kidnap-murder defendant Jesse James Hollywood has testified at his Santa Barbara trial that there was no plan in the abduction of a 15-year-old boy who was later slain.

Hollywood described Tuesday how he and two friends took Nicholas Markowitz off a San Fernando Valley street in 2000.

He says he was angry that Markowitz's half brother Ben hadn't paid a drug debt, and that Ben Markowitz had left him threatening messages, poisoned his dog and broken a window at his home.

Hollywood says he pinned Nicholas Markowitz against a tree, but it was a friend who punched him and put him in their van.

Hollywood has pleaded not guilty to kidnap and murder, and his defense contends he did not order the killing and was not present.
