Officials issued an excessive heat warning for Los Angeles County mountains until 8 p.m. Monday as the Southland head wave continued. According to the National Weather Service, the mountains may see highs in the 90s up to 110 degrees.

Beat The Heat! City Opens Free Cooling Centers

With triple-digit temperatures expected in the valleys and mountains today, Los Angeles county public health officials opened cooling centers to help people without air conditioning beat the heat. The cooling centers, available to seniors and anyone else looking to escape the heat, will be open during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, according to the Department of Public Health.

Each year the Environmental Working Group puts hundreds of sunscreen products to the test, CBS station KCNC-TV reported. It's out with this year's report and and findings show 60 percent of brand name products don't deliver their promised protection.
