Too Hot? Riverside Opens Up 15 Cool Centers

RIVERSIDE (CBS) ― Too hot this weekend?

Don't suffer in silence. Get to a Cool Center.

Riverside is opening 15 such centers this weekend to help residents beat the heat.

We're expecting triple digit temperatures this weekend (that even hurts to type.) If you can't get to the beach, or a pool, then by all means find a cool place to ..., well, cool down.

Riverside is opening, or keeping open, a group of city facilities such as libraries and community centers to help people who might not have access to AC. Each of the following centers will have AC, a resting area and plenty of cold water.:

Cesar Chavez Community Center (Bobby Bonds Park)
Joyce Jackson Community Center (Nichols Park)
Janet Goeske Senior Center (Sierra Street)
Ruth Lewis Community Center (Reid Park)
Eric M. Solander Community Center (Bryant Park)
Dales Senior Center (White Park)
Arlington Library
Renck Community Center (Hunt Park)
Ysmael Villegas Community Center (Villegas Park)
Casa Blanca Library (Madison Street)
La Sierra Community Center (La Sierra Park)
Main Library (Mission Inn Avenue)
Eastside Library (Chicago Avenue)
Marcy Library (Central Avenue)
La Sierra Library (La Sierra Avenue)

The community centers and the Janet Goeske Senior Center will remain open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. On Saturdays, the libraries will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except the Marcy brance will will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
