It's now official. Michael Jackson's memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Staples Center.
Randy Phillips, chief executive for AEG Live, which owns Staples and was Jackson's promoter, says he met Thursday with Jackson's brother Randy.
They discussed holding a public memorial Tuesday at Staples and Jackson's mother, Katherine, gave the final okay.
Phillips said AEG already has been discussing logistics with city officials and the LAPD. A huge crush of people is expected. Just last month, the Staples Center was the kick off for the Lakers Victory Celebration.
A Jackson memorial would attract tens of thousands...if not more.
Phillips says AEG will issue tickets to Staples and provide a simulcast on big screens outside the arena.
He says entry to Staples would be free, but he's not sure yet how tickets would be distributed. Those details were expected to be announced at a press conference Friday morning.
