The U.S. price of gasoline jumped 25 cents a gallon during the past three weeks, but remains well below prices from a year ago.
That's according to the national Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday.
Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the average U.S. price of regular grade gasoline was $2.30 a gallon Friday, when the survey was completed.
That's up from $2.05 a gallon recorded on April 24, but down $1.49 from the price at this time last year.
The lowest price for gasoline in the U.S. was found in Phoenix, at $1.99 a gallon. The highest was in Chicago, at 2.63.
The lowest price in California was $2.44 a gallon in Fresno, and the highest was $2.52 in San Francisco.
