Suspect A Cheater? Track Them Down With GPS

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Do you suspect your significant other is straying? Are you interested in catching them in the act? Thanks to advances in GPS technology, catching your loved one can be as simple as firing up a laptop.

Private investigators claim that catching cheaters are among their most requested cases. And with advances in technology, finding that unfaithful other can be as simple as turning on your computer.

According to California law, it's legal to place global positioning devices -- or GPS -- in a vehicle if you're the registered owner, lessor or lessee.

Suspicious spouses can even do their own spying with active and passive GPS systems. According to companies like Brickhouse Security, magnetic GPS systems have tripled in sales in the past year.

Of course, tracking a cheater also means knowing the legalities associated with filming them.

And, in worst-case scenarios, California courts do not give adultery bearing when it comes to financial settlements.
