2 Killed, Dozens Hurt In Minn. Tour Bus Crash

AUSTIN, Minn. (CBS) ― A spokesperson for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety says at least two people had died in a tour bus crash near Austin, Minn., CBS station WCCO-TV reported.

"There are some fatalities," spokesperson Andy Skoogman said.

The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. about 2 miles west of Austin.

Freeborn County Chief Deputy Gene Arnold said as many as 22 people may be injured. Six helicopters are heading toward the scene of the crash, he said.

The bus is a Strain's Motorcoach bus. A woman who answered the phone at Strain's Motorcoach said there were 23 people on the bus, including the driver, who is from the Rochester, Minn.-area.

"The bus is tipped over, that's all I know," the woman said.

The company, which is headquartered in Rochester, said the bus was coming from the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa. The company operates a weekly trip every Wednesday from Rochester to the casino.

The owners of the bus company are headed to the scene of the crash.
