Garrido's Former Parole Agent Moved Due To Threats

(AP) A parole agent who oversaw the man accused of kidnapping and raping Jaycee Dugard has been transferred for the safety of him and his family.

California corrections department spokesman Gordon Hinkle says the agent and his family were moved to a new location after he was publicly identified. His children had to be taken out of school because of threats, Hinkle said Wednesday.

The Associated Press has not named the agent, the last in a series of agents who supervised Phillip Garrido while he lived in Antioch. Garrido and his wife have pleaded not guilty to abducting Dugard outside her South Lake Tahoe home in 1991 and holding her captive for nearly two decades.

Lance Corcoran, a spokesman for the parole agents' union, says the transfer was not disciplinary.
