A police pursuit Tuesday, which began in Carson and headed north to the San Fernando Valley, ended peacefully after the driver's car was cornered on an Arleta street, authorities said.
The pursuit reportedly started at 8:45 a.m. when California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop an unidentified male driver on the northbound San Diego 405 Freeway at Carson Street for an unknown traffic violation, Lt. Omar Wilson of the CHP said.
The pursuit reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour as the suspect traveled north and then eastbound on the Ronald Reagan 118 Freeway.
According to Wilson, the motorist then headed south on Golden State 5 Freeway before the he exited on Roscoe Boulevard in Sun Valley.
The chase ended about 9:40 a.m. on Jouett Street near Van Nuys Boulevard in Arleta when CHP officers forced the driver onto the driveway of a home and boxed his car in, Wilson said.
CHP officers then forced him out of his car, handcuffed him on the ground and arrested him.
No information was immediately available on what the driver was going to be booked on or where he was being held, Wilson said.
Authorities have not released the driver's name or city of origin.
