A vehicle crashed into a building just west of South Gate, as a parolee tried to evade South Gate police officers, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers were called to the scene of the crash at Firestone Boulevard and Grape Street just before 9 a.m., according to CHP spokesman Officer David Porter.
Officers were making a traffic stop when they discovered that the driver, a parolee, had an outstanding warrant, said South Gate police Sgt. Ron Inman. As they returned to the man's vehicle, he drove off, but only went a very short distance before hitting a building, Inman said.
The man was arrested without further incident and no one was injured, according to Inman.
