Covina police arrested a female driver suspected of colliding with a police car and driving under the influence. The crash sent an officer to a hospital to be checked out early Saturday, a sergeant said.
The collision at Cypress Street and Barranca Avenue occurred shortly before midnight Friday, according Covina police Sgt. Ray Marquez.
The driver, a woman, and her female passenger fled the scene, but were tracked down and arrested by California Highway Patrol officers, Marquez said.
Police withheld the driver's name.
The officer was examined at a hospital for back pain and later released, Marquez said.
California Highway Patrol officers are handling the investigation.
