Injured Female Suspect Escapes Hospital

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) ― Police are trying to figure out how an injured woman walked out the front door of a hospital without being noticed by the officer guarding her.

A California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Xana Diolinda Marks, 23, of Chino, was wearing only a hospital gown when she left Western Medical Center-Santa Ana at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Marks was driving a stolen sport utility vehicle Monday afternoon and trying to elude a CHP pursuer when she struck two occupied vehicles in Tustin.

Three people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, as was Marks.

A CHP report says Marks has outstanding warrants on burglary and possession of stolen property.
