Pursuit Suspect Crashes Into Orange Krispy Kreme

3 Injured In Dramatic Rollover Crash

ORANGE A pursuit suspect was critically injured Thursday when he lost control and crashed into a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Orange, authorities said.

Three people were ejected when the SUV crashed and rolled over around 2:45 a.m. at The City Drive and Shoppertainment Way, Orange Fire Department Battalion Chief Jack Thomas said.

The male driver apparently lost control of the SUV, which rolled over at least three times before crashing into the drive-thru area of the doughnut shop, Thomas said.

It was not immediately known why police were chasing the SUV or where the pursuit began.
The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition and two passengers were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

No one inside the Krispy Kreme was injured, but an employee who just served a customer at the drive-thru 10 minutes before the crash was badly shaken up.

The Krispy Kreme was shut down for business because of structural damage caused by the accident.
