Pursuit Suspect Killed After Shootout With Police

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A 26-year-old man is dead after a shootout with police that followed a car chase.

One officer is recovering after being grazed by a bullet during incident.

Police say David Sedillo was in a street gang and was wanted for threatening officers' lives.

Officers tried to arrest him Wednesday afternoon in the Wilmington neighborhood, but he led them on an eight-minute car chase. That ended when officers collided with Sedillo's vehicle to stop it.

Police say Sedillo then got out and shot at them. Officers returned fire, striking him at least twice.

One officer had a bullet graze his body after it ricocheted off his protective vest. He is expected to fully recover.

Two women passengers in Sedillo's vehicle were not harmed.
